Born Hedwig Eva Marie Kiesler in Vienna, Austria, Hedy Lamarr was best known as a glamorous Hollywood actress, but she was also a creative inventor.
Lamarr began her acting career in Europe, where she was married to an arms manufacturer. She said that during this time she attended business meetings because of her good mathematical brain, and there she learned about military technologies.
