Trojan asteroids

The Trojan asteroids have unusual orbital properties, while other objects with similar orbits are also known as Trojans. What is special about them, and why are discoveries of new Trojans making the news?

Within the solar system, Trojan asteroids, moons and satellites occupy special positions in orbit around their parent bodies. These positions can be identified using Newton’s law of gravitation.
