Seeing inside the body

All the current A-level physics specifications cover some aspects of medical imaging. You can find a lot of information on the internet about the different medical imaging techniques available to doctors. Some of this is directed towards telling patients what to expect if they have a scan, and these sites often have very clear descriptions. Other sites give good explanations of how the techniques work

The very first way to see inside a live body was to take an X-ray photograph. This YouTube video explains simply how a basic X-ray machine works:
