An introduction to fusion energy

Fusion is a fundamental process in nature. It powers the Sun and is the primary energy source in the universe. If developed in Earth-based reactors, fusion would represent a clean and inexhaustible energy source

Nuclear fusion occurs when light nuclei join to form nuclei of heavier elements. In the process mass is converted to energy. This process takes place in the stars but research is focused on designing and developing Earth-based fusion reactors as a sustainable power source for the future.
