The story of the Higgs particle discovery involves the mass–energy relationship and the standard model of particle physics (quarks, leptons and exchange forces). It also illustrates aspects of how science works: a theoretical prediction was tested in a series of specially designed experiments, and data analysis provided key evidence for the discovery.
