Musical instruments set up standing waves, which are also called stationary waves. Several examples of these can be observed on YouTube.

You could start with this video showing how a standing wave is formed when a travelling wave is ref lected. The green wave travels to the right and the blue wave to the left. The results of the superposition of the two waves is the yellow standing wave, which stays in the same position:
