On a GCE AS/A-level course you cover a lot more material than at GCSE, so it is a good idea to be organised from the start. One way to keep track of what you have done so far and what is coming up next is to have a copy of the course content. This is included in the specification published by the exam board. You could print off these pages, or save a copy and print each unit when you start it. Having a copy of the unit content means you can tick it off as you go, and easily see if you have missed some work you need to copy up. It is also useful for planning revision.
You will find information about your course on the exam board website. Make sure you are looking at the correct specification — there are several exam boards and some have two specifications. You also need to know that the ‘new GCEs’ (new AS and A-levels) were launched in 2008, so the year September 2009–June 2010 is the first year of the new A2 and the second year of the new AS course. The previous revision of the curriculum took place in 2000 and you may find references to the old specifications and exams which are still there for students retaking units.
