When people think of speed in sport, they tend to think of how fast Usain Bolt can run the 100 m (9.58 seconds). However, this idea of athletes running from point A to point B as fast as they can is only one element of speed.
Speed is a multi-dimensional component of fitness that can encompass many sports. Generally, speed is defined as the capacity to move a limb, or part of a limb, or part of the body’s lever system, or the whole body, with the greatest possible velocity. The faster you move an arm, leg, or your whole body, the faster you will move.
