Global media giant Sky Sports has received a lot of positive publicity as a result of its involvement in a number of sports development schemes. These focus both on developing elite performers and on encouraging those who need support to get involved in the first place.
Professional cycling outfit Team Sky was founded in February 2009 with financial backing from Sky Sports owner BSkyB. Cycling fitted the bill for Sky, as it meant its £30 million investment could have a global impact.
