Past paper questions can be a powerful revision tool, especially when approached in a focused manner. Completing questions and marking your own answers is immensely beneficial but by concentrating on the structure of the questions you will develop your exam technique and ensure that your knowledge and understanding earn you the marks you deserve. This article takes you through a series of paperstyle questions, helping you to understand how they are constructed and showing you how, through close reading of the paper, you can provide exactly the answer the examiner is looking for.

• Answering the essay questions first is recommended. Allow 20 minutes per essay initially.
