The international study

Mike Hill outlines the essentials for success when completing the international study as part of the A2 PE coursework for Edexcel.

Table 1 Who rules the world in sport? Top-ranked nations (men and women combined, based on 2008 statistics, excluding the UK)

Task 4.2, the international study, requires you to research the opportunities and provision for mass participation and elite development in another nation. This involves you expanding on your AS coursework — the local study (task 2.2) and the national study (task 2.3). You are expected to develop knowledge and understanding of such opportunities and provision through independent research.

Task 4.2 is worth 15 marks out of a possible total of 90 marks for the four tasks in Unit 4.
