Reaction time

Reaction time can be defined as the time from the stimulus being presented to the performer (onset of the stimulus) to the performer beginning to respond to it (onset of response). A typical human reaction time to simple tasks is often quoted as between 0.2 and 0.3 seconds.

In sport, performers can experience either simple reaction time or choice reaction time depending on the number of stimuli facing them and the number of possible responses available.
