Compression clothing has become more and more popular, with people wearing it as a fashionable lifestyle choice as well as when trying to enhance their performance. Compression garments are often worn to apply variable and high-level pressure to the skin and can cover the whole body, upper body, lower body or partial parts of the body like feet or arms (Box 1).
Compression garments are tight, compressive forms of clothing, often made out of elastin and nylon, which are designed to enhance recovery. Not only are they worn by athletes in an attempt to improve performance and aid recovery, but they are also seen on many fitness enthusiasts.
