EXAM FOCUS

Choosing practice and guidance methods

Anna Snook looks at choices a coach must make when choosing practice and guidance methods, in relation to the exam board assessment objectives (AOs)

Types of practice and guidance are major topics on all A-level PE exam boards.

Coaches have all of the methods of practice and all of the forms of guidance at their disposal, and exam questions often ask you to define these for AO1 marks. Examiners will also ask you to apply your knowledge for AO2 marks and analyse or discuss a situation for AO3 marks. In the case of these two nicely linked topics, you could be asked what the factors are that a coach must consider when choosing a method of practice or guidance.
