Elite performance isn’t just about turning up to training, getting a regular massage and feeling great on race day. Much more goes on behind the scenes to create an optimal performance. Perhaps one of the biggest parts of the jigsaw is nutrition and the way athletes eat and drink for maximum training, recovery and race benefit.

A balanced diet, staying hydrated and using the right supplementation are all part of an athlete’s normal routine, but the fine tuning of nutrition consumption can make the difference in elite performance. Ultimately, where there are fine lines between success and failure in sport, there has to be equally fine measurement of nutrition.Fuelling for elite performance isn’t just about carb-loading the night before a big race, but about the balance of correct fuels needed for the event the athlete is competing in.
