Dr Helen Laville is senior lecturer in American history and head of the Department of American and Canadian Studies at the University of Birmingham. Her areas of interest are US women’s history, the Cold War, civil rights and women’s internationalism. Her latest book (edited with Andrew Johnstone), The US Public and American Foreign Policy, was published in 2010.
