Professor Robert Evans was regius professor of modern history at the University of Oxford until his retirement in September 2011. Professor Evans’ speciality area is Eastern European history, and many of his publications on twentieth century history have focused on the Habsburg dynasty and their role in European events. He is also particularly interested in the role of language in historical development.
