Maria Misra lectures in modern history at the University of Oxford. She is best known as a historian of imperialism and post-colonialism in India. In addition to her academic pursuits she has also appeared on television and radio, as well as writing for publications such as New Statesman, the Guardian and The Times. Her television work includes a series on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century India and she has appeared twice on Question Time, most recently arguing against educational cuts.
