OCR (A): Exam focus

Churchill 1920–45

AS F963 Option B

Churchill dominates modern British history. In the popular imagination he is the British prime minister who beat the Nazis and led the country to victory in the Second World War. OCR’s ‘Churchill 1920–45’ unit encourages students to gain a more rounded view of the man, examining him in the context of the big issues of the day and exploring his career prior to the Second World War. A study of Churchill would, however, be incomplete without focusing on his role as a war leader. This examination paper does just this, and explores Churchill’s role in 1940.

Study the five sources on Churchill and Britain in 1940 and then answer both sub-questions.
