The United States Jeff and Toby Herr Oral History Archive (http://tinyurl.com/45nv3r2b) is one of the biggest collections of oral testimonies concerning the Holocaust in the world. Encompassing over 80,000 interviews, the collection includes the testimonies of individuals interviewed in 21 European countries. These include the stories of not only Jewish survivors, but also others who were persecuted under the Third Reich on the grounds of their race, religious beliefs, sexuality or political views. The collection also includes more than 1,500 interviews and testimonies from those who perpetrated the Holocaust, collaborated with the Nazis or were witnesses to the genocide.

Although some of the interviews have yet to be digitised, over 19,000 can be accessed online via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s website, enabling students to listen to firsthand accounts of one of the darkest and most horrific episodes in European history.
