A joint-honours degree is a degree that combines more than one subject. So, you will spend your time at university across two different academic departments and your degree will be split across the two different subjects you have chosen to study. A huge variety of subjects are available to pair with history, including politics, English, sociology and French. The combinations are virtually endless.
If you enjoy more than one of the subjects you are currently taking for your A-levels, if you have an interest in how subjects interlink and intersect, or if you just can’t choose between two different degrees, a joint-honours programme gives you the opportunity to expand and explore your interests. When I was applying for university, I was immediately drawn to the idea of studying history and politics. I had always enjoyed studying history at school and during my A-level studies I became more interested in how politics influences history.
