On 15 June 2010, UK prime minister David Cameron issued a statement on the ‘Saville Inquiry’ findings. Campaigners had spent more than 30 years fighting for this inquiry into the events of 30 January 1972, commonly known as ‘Bloody Sunday.’ Cameron said what happened was ‘unjustified and unjustifiable’ and apologised to the victims’ families on behalf of the British government.
