Using podcasts as a learning aid in history

Podcasts have many advantages as a learning tool and there are numerous ways of using them. This column considers the usefulness of podcasts and looks at how you can produce your own to maximise your learning potential

Podcasts are sets of related audio or video files which you can download to a computer or mobile device to listen to and/or watch. Some podcasts are free, while others can be purchased. The usefulness of podcasts will vary according to the quality of production, which in turn largely rests on who has produced them and for what purpose. If you are considering downloading history podcasts, ensure that they come from a reputable source such as BBC History or the Historical Association.
