Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s achievements as one of the USA’s greatest presidents and its most accomplished leaders since George Washington and Abraham Lincoln make him one of the most important people of the twentieth century. Many believe that Roosevelt saved capitalism and democracy from the Great Depression of the 1930s and brought the USA to the rescue to protect the Western world from Adolf Hitler in the 1940s.
