1 What image does each of the Allied leaders want to portray in Source A?
On 17 July 1945 the leaders of the victorious wartime allies gathered at the German city of Potsdam to discuss the future of Germany and Europe. Their purpose was to draw up the peace settlement and, most importantly, determine Germany’s fate. By the time the conference was over on 1 August, several key decisions had been made.
