You should be aware of the danger of straying into opinion or discussing the impact of the Iraqi invasion on current events when answering questions relating to the invasion and its legality or otherwise. Answers will be rewarded on the basis of historical knowledge and essay writing skills, not on your ability to provide a critique of present-day policies and problems in the middle east.

On 19 March 2003 a multinational force, made up largely of US and British forces, with much smaller contingents from Poland and Australia, began the invasion of Iraq. The initial phase of the war ended in May with the surrender of Baghdad and the imprisonment of Saddam Hussein.
