NEW HORIZONS: GEOGRAPHY WORKS

Using geography across the environmental sector

From a young age I always loved the natural world and I always enjoyed geography in school. After completing A-levels, I chose a joint honours degree in physical geography and geology. I learnt in depth about Earth’s natural processes and systems, conducted lab work and did lots of fieldwork.

I followed my BSc with a Master’s in environmental impact assessment and management. Environmental impact assessment is used to assess the significant environmental impacts a project or development plan has on the environment. I also learnt about environmental policy and law, which inspired my thesis where I investigated UK policy in protecting designated sensitive habitats against air pollution.
