Secondary data and information form an integral part of the enquiry process. While your NEA has to include some primary data, many projects will also use secondary data as a key part of the analysis. You will know that there are a huge number of very useful secondary sources, including online maps and data sets that can be used to support the development of a successful NEA.
Just occasionally, however, some online sources stand out as being both innovative and very interesting. This article is about one such example — NEV (Natural Environment Valuation) and its online tool — NEVO. This may be of particular interest to anyone thinking about a piece of research linked to physical systems (especially carbon and water) and climate change, but it may also be relevant in supporting pieces of work linked to a wide range of other topics.
