GEOGRAPHY WORKS: NEW HORIZONS

Recruitment director

© Richard Pilkington

I’ve been in recruitment since graduating with my BA geography degree in 2004. I am the director and co-founder of two recruitment businesses based in Chester. Innova Search and Selection started life in a business incubation hub linked to Chester University in 2017. The business will celebrate its sixth birthday in September 2023. Innova Search is a mid-senior-level executive search and selection recruiter operating in the engineering and manufacturing sectors. A second sister business was born in 2021 to service clients at a junior-mid level, operating as a generalist recruiter, predominantly working across the northwest of England.

The first 13 years of my post-graduation career saw me working as a recruitment consultant before meeting my business partner and co-director. We decided that the time was right to channel our entrepreneurial spirit into the setup of our own business. Fastforward 6 years and we have recently had our fourth office move into a building that is 3,500 sq. ft. and has room to see us double our current team of 12 before looking for something bigger.
