NEW HORIZONS: CENTREPIECE

GEOGRAPHY REVIEW photo competition

The photographs exhibited in this Centrepiece were all highly commended entries in the 2020/21 GEOGRAPHY REVIEW photo competition. The competition was organised via the magazine’s Twitter feed @GeogReview which now has over 5,000 followers. The competition was judged by the four editors of GEOGRAPHY REVIEW

Thank you to everyone who submitted a photograph for our GEOGRAPHY REVIEW photo competition. We had some excellent entries and the editors had a challenging task selecting the winning entry. In the end, they selected two joint winning photographs. The first was by Claire Powell, which features in the ‘Big Picture’ on the back of this issue. The other winner was Susan Harte, whose photo will feature in next issue’s ‘Big Picture’.

This photograph was taken in October 2020 during a morning commute in the Bradford district of east Manchester. It captures the juxtaposition of old and new architecture, while also highlighting the rapidly evolving high-rise urban landscape.
