We know that global temperatures have been increasing, causing ice sheets and glaciers to melt and sea level to rise. But what are the consequences of climate change for tropical forests? And why does it matter? This article describes the most recent findings from the RAINFOR project about the impacts of climate change on tropical forests. It explains how researchers collect data from the forest and use this to develop scientific understanding. And it details the findings from this research which show how we can help to protect the world’s most diverse ecosystem and the services it provides to our planet.
