What is the embedded energy of a pair of trainers?

It is recognised that all manufacturing of goods and services involves the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs). It is also recognised that countries need to track their emissions in order to set targets to reduce them. When countries do this, however, they often fail to include the emissions which happened overseas in making the goods or services they consume. To ensure this was covered, emissions tracking would need to include embedded energy.
