According to United Nations (UN) figures, in 2015 the number of people on the planet aged under 15 was approximately double the number aged 60 and over. The UN predicts that by 2050 the numbers will be equal, and all major regions of the world, except Africa, will have at least 25% of their population aged 60 and over.
