The role of the media

Do the media help or hinder development in the global South? What is the role of the UK media in increasing understanding of development issues? And what are the challenges for the media in the developing world?

Comic Relief, 25 years old this year, has drawn attention to the need for aid. But has it increased understanding?

In March 2013, Comic Relief was 25 years old. Since 1988, the charity has raised £750 million for projects which aim to reduce poverty and improve living standards in the developing world. Television has been key to Comic Relief ’s high profile in the UK.
