Major diseases are an important part of health studies. There are a number of diseases that are passed on by human–human contact. Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most worrying. We thought at one point that it had been conquered, but there is evidence that it is increasing again, this time in a form that is drug resistant. TB spreads through the air and affects people who live in cramped housing conditions, particularly if their immune system is compromised, e.g. by poor diet, or other infections.
