Geography of crime

The social geography of inequality, and the pathologies of modern urban life such as law-breaking, are important A-level themes. WJEC has an A2 research investigation option on crime. What materials are available to students researching the geography of crime?

At the district scale you can see data on crimes such as violence against the person, harassment including penalty notices for disorder, burglary, theft from a motor vehicle, and so on. Go to the National Statistics website and put your postcode into the dialog box. You will need to scroll down the results and click on the topics you want, but you will be surprised how much information is available there.
