Linda Black is the editor of Long Poem Magazine and has published four collections with Shearsman Books, the most recent being Then (2021), in which ‘My goal’ is included. The son of a shoemaker (Hearing Eye, 2012) — collaged prosepoems about the early life of Hans Andersen, plus the author’s illustrations — was the subject of a Poetry Society exhibition. Her work has appeared in many publications, including Prose Poetry, An Introduction (Princeton University Press, 2020), Prototype 2 (2020) and The Valley press Anthology of Prose Poetry (2019). The Beating of Wings was the Poetry Book Society (PBS) Pamphlet Choice for Spring 2007, when she received an Arts Council Writer’s Award. She won the 2006 New Writing Ventures Poetry Award and received the 2004–05 Poetry School Scholarship.
