Emily Toder lives and works in New York and is the author of two full-length poetry collections, Beachy Head and Science (Coconut Books). After college, she went to Spain to learn Spanish, and later studied for a Masters in literary translation at the University of East Anglia. Toder has published several books of translations, including The Life and Memoirs of Doctor Pi, by Argentinian poet Edgar Bayley. In a 2011 interview, she described Bayley’s style as having a ‘sense of spontaneous absurdity that is absurd and banal at the same time. It really whisks you away.’ It’s a description which might equally apply to her own poetry.
