W hile studying economics, your teachers will expect you to write a selection of essays, and in the final exam you will be assessed on your ability to produce extended responses to essay-style questions. Many of the skills you have developed in other subjects will stand you in good stead, but writing a high-quality economics essay will require that you adapt and extend the techniques you have learnt, for example, in English or history.
The skills you acquire during your course should prove valuable throughout your life. Many of you will write reports, memos and formal letters and, more generally, try to persuade and communicate effectively with others.
