Getting diagrams right

Using diagrams is one of the key quantitative skills being assessed in A-level economics, so you will not escape having to draw some. Getting a diagram wrong is a sure sign to the examiners that you have not understood what you are doing. So, how do you get it right? Peter Smith explains

You meet a lot of diagrams in studying A-level economics. This is because diagrams are a really helpful way of explaining economic theories.

What this means is that when you are sitting in the exam room, you may be faced with instructions such as ‘Making use of a diagram, show…’. Even if you are not told explicitly to use a diagram, you may find that doing so is the best way of explaining something.
