A lan Kirman is Directeur d’Etudes at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, professor emeritus of economics at the Aix Marseille University and is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He has published many articles in international scientific journals and is the author and editor of 12 books, most recently Complex Economics: Individual and Collective Rationality.
