Trends of properties of elements in the periodic table are influenced by the electronic configurations of these elements. Those of the elements in the s block (groups 1 and 2), the d block (groups 3 to 12) and the p block (groups 13 to 18) may be familiar to you. However, many chemistry students are not introduced to the f block during their studies, and might not even consider these 28 elements.
