Many people have a view of what a chemist is like. Thinking that they don’t fit this stereotypical image, they believe that chemistry is not for them. But take a look at the 175 faces of chemistry (www.rsc.org/diversity/175-faces) and I am sure that you will find someone like you.
To mark 175 years of promoting, supporting and celebrating chemistry, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) published 175 inspiring stories about diverse individuals. Many of these people have overcome huge difficulties to succeed in their chosen profession, paving the way for future generations of chemists. It shows that it doesn’t matter what your gender, religious belief or ethnic background is, or whether you have a disability or challenges in your personal life: you can be a successful chemist. You can apply your love of chemistry to tackle diverse issues, such as solving the problems of traffic flow at Oxford Circus.
