The fundamental processes of life occur inside our cells. This article explores the important role proteins play in regulating how cells function. Many important cell functions are activated or deactivated by two proteins coming together; whereas cancer is driven by misguided meetings of proteins. Here we examine how medicinal chemists might be able to use a novel method of making drugs that can affect how proteins come together in the cell.
