It ain’t what you do (it’s the way that you do it)

Use these practice questions to aid your revision of organic reaction mechanisms and choice of reaction conditions.

Knowing ‘the way that you do it’ is fundamental to understanding that conditions affect what happens in an organic reaction. Examiners love questions that test candidates’ understanding of how different products might be formed if substances react under different conditions, such as at different temperatures or in different proportions, or with a simple change in the way the apparatus is set up.
