Every business claims to have clear lines of accountability, so that mistakes can be tracked and blame (or praise) given. Yet when things go wrong in large organisations, it always seems that committees have made decisions, so nobody can be held to account.
Large companies feel pressure to achieve boardroom diversity. But a 2021 report into public companies on the AIM (smaller) stock market showed that of 324 boardroom positions, just three were held by black people and 6% were held by women. Boardrooms lack the diversity they need to reflect society — and therefore business opportunity.
