The move towards cleaner car engines has resulted in many opportunities for the development of related industries focused on solving problems that emerge. The distribution network of charging stations is becoming a key aspect of many traditional fuel stations in towns and cities. This, along with the improved range of newer electric cars, means the issue of ‘range anxiety’ that was an early feature of the move to electric cars is close to being resolved.
One of the issues that remains is that electric cars are too quiet at low speeds: if pedestrians can’t hear a car approaching, this could lead to accidents. US regulators have passed a law that all electric cars need to make a sound when they are travelling below 20mph, which will address the issue in built-up areas.
