Sugar and space

Hugely popular in the UK in the 1980s, SodaStream homemade sparkling drink kits have enjoyed a renaissance in recent years. The demand for retro products is growing among younger generations, as witnessed in the growth of chains such as Urban Outfitters, which are bringing old-style fashion labels and products to the attention of a much younger audience.

SodaStream was founded in the UK in 1903 and was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes in 1985, before being bought by Israeli firm Soda-Club in 1998. It has recently been acquired by PepsiCo in a deal worth £2.5 billion.
