Over the last few years there have been many newspaper articles that have highlighted the excessive pay of chief executives across many industries. We also hear that real wage growth in the UK is falling for the typical employee. Whether it is a ratio compared to other employees or the fallout over gender pay, this is a huge issue for UK companies, as employees begin to feel demotivated. This article considers some of the issues involved and how motivational theorists make sense of it all.
