Stella & Dot

Jessica Herrin co-founded the Wedding Channel television station. Looking for new ideas and challenges, she hit upon the idea of offering a home-based business that would give flexibility to individuals who wanted to earn extra cash and work when they wanted. This business model has been around for years and used successfully by companies such as the cosmetics firm Avon, whereby there are no actual physical stores to purchase items, but sales reps deliver catalogues and host parties to generate interest in the products.

Herrin felt that this business model had become stale. She felt that it could be improved by concentrating on higher-quality training and customer service, combined with high-quality products. The product that she decided on was boutique-style jewellery and accessories. Stella & Dot’s one-of-a-kind collections are designed by celebrated New York designers, giving the business credibility.
